Eye bolts, also known as ring bolts, are provided with a forged loop instead of a screw head. Eye bolts enable connections with movable parts. If you combine eye bolts and clevis pins with heads you build a hinge for example in gates or flaps. A combination of eye bolts and turnbuckles forms a clamping element to stiffen a structure or to tighten a wire.
